Kathryn Stanbery JD, MSW, LISW-S

Hello!  I am happy to serve as the Clinical Compliance Director and Clinical Director for Day Treatment Programs at Transitions Behavioral Health!

While working on my Juris Doctor degree in 2004, I gravitated toward mental healthcare law, and also had a year-long fellowship with the Ohio Innocence Project.  The lack of care and resources, and end result of that lack of resources, that had been provided to wrongfully convicted people I worked with, ignited my passion for serving people in navigating a challenging system.  This inspired me to obtain my Master’s in Social Work as well in 2007, to further understand and help systems change, to better support the people within them.

I spent two years as a dependently licensed clinician working with incarcerated women with mental health and addiction needs, and then the next 11 years (2009-2020) working first as a clinician, and then supervising, building, and developing mental health programs within public schools. I began working with Transitions Behavioral Health in 2018 first as a clinical supervisor on a contract basis; I grew to love the work and the team, and have stuck around through COVID and now beyond!

In my free time, I love spending time with my husband, three children, and two dogs; moving my body in ways that are new and challenging to me (I am currently the World’s Least Crossfitty Crossfitter); and trying to turn my yard into a wildlife sanctuary/wildflower garden without letting it get too wild.
