What is Early Intervention?

Understanding EIBI and our role in Transforming Lives

Our early intervention services, offers a structured, individualized approach to learning and development during the critical formative years.

Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention is a specialized treatment targeting children  7 years of age and younger—who exhibit significant delays in communication, social, cognitive, or adaptive behaviors.

Ou programs primary aim is to foster meaningful and lasting behavioral changes. This includes improvements in language, social engagement, self-care, play, and academic readiness—domains that are often impacted in children with developmental delays or autism. The intervention is highly individualized, adapting to the unique strengths, challenges, and interests of each child.

Evidence of Effectiveness

Numerous studies have shown that EIBI can lead to substantial gains in IQ, language, social behavior, and daily living skills for many children with ASD or other related disabilities. Long-term follow-ups indicate that children who receive intensive early intervention are more likely to attend regular education classrooms, develop friendships, and require fewer supports later in life.

Parent Program offered:

Transitions offers a specialized Parent/Guardian involvement  support and training program when requested by the parent or guardian for additional training and support.  This service can be provided clinic based or home based.  Our outreach team works collaboratively  to ensure that treatment goals align with family values and priorities. Support groups and parent networks also offer resources, shared experiences, and emotional support throughout the process.

Treatment Model

Core Principles and Components

  • Individualization: No two children are alike. EIBI programs begin with a thorough assessment and the design of personalized goals and curricula, considering the child’s abilities, preferences, and family priorities.
  • Intensity and Duration: Our program is offered 3-6 hours per day Monday-Friday in our clinic.
  • PARENT INVOLVEMENT : When requested by parents our specialized quality mental health specialist work to integrate parents and caregivers as essential partners in the intervention process. Training and collaboration empowers families to support learning and manage behavior outside of therapy sessions.
  • Individualization: No two children are alike. EIBI programs begin with a thorough assessment and the design of personalized goals and curricula, considering the child’s abilities, preferences, and family priorities.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Progress is continuously monitored through detailed data collection, allowing for timely adjustments in teaching strategies or goals.
  • Focus on Generalization: Skills are taught not only in structured settings but also in natural environments to ensure that children can apply what they learn across various people, places, and situations.

Benefits of our EIBI PROGRAM:

Transitions Behavioral Health has expanded to support children with a variety of developmental disabilities. The most robust evidence of effectiveness remains with preschool-aged children diagnosed with ASD, especially those who begin services before age six. Children with delays in speech, cognitive functioning, play skills, or social interaction are often prime candidates for EIBI.

The EIBI Process: From Assessment to Implementation

  • Initial Assessment: The process begins with a comprehensive evaluation of the child’s strengths, needs, and current levels of functioning, often through standardized tools, observation, and caregiver interviews that occur with our Licensed Social Work Team.
  • Goal Setting: Specific, measurable, and meaningful goals are established with our Licensed Social work and Behavioral Health Team.  These goals may target communication, social skills, play, self-help, or reduction of challenging behaviors.
  • Implementation: quality mental health specialists as well as your child’s therapy team work collaboratively to implement the goals that have been established by the parent and Transition’s treatment team.
  • Ongoing Monitoring: Regular review meetings ensure that progress is tracked and adjustments are made as needed.
